Towards the end of 2025, Miko Engineering were instructed by Hebburn Comprehensive School to install a 23.5 x 10m Vaulted Canopy to provide a year-round space for pupils to enjoy, whatever the weather.
Hebburn Comprehensive School required a durable, weather-resistant canopy to create a sheltered outdoor space for students. The goal was to provide additional covered area that could be used throughout the year, helping to ease pressure on indoor dining areas while giving pupils a comfortable space to gather outside.
Like many busy secondary schools and education facilities, Hebburn Comprehensive needed to maximise the use of its outdoor space. However, the unpredictable North East weather made it difficult for students to use the area consistently.
The school required a canopy solution that would:
The team at Miko designed and installed a bespoke vaulted canopy, creating a large, covered outdoor area for the school. Working closely with the school and South Tyneside Council, Miko Engineering designed a product that the school felt would work best.
The completed canopy now provides Hebburn Comprehensive with a practical outdoor space that can be used throughout the year. The students can now benefit from a sheltered area for dining and socialising, while the school has gained additional flexible space outside. This also helps reduce pressure on indoor facilities.
