The Brentford Project

Specification of Work: Timber Covered Walkways

Client: The Brentford Project

Location: Brentford, London

Project introduction

Miko Engineering was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a bespoke air-dried oak timber-covered walkway forming part of the Residents’ Club at The Brentford Project.

The Residents’ Club – known as The Wick- is a private members’ wellness and leisure facility exclusively for residents, offering a gym, spa, pool and landscaped outdoor spaces designed to promote wellbeing and community.

Positioned within the development’s network of lanes and gardens, the walkway plays an important role in enhancing connectivity, shelter and the overall user experience within this premium environment.

Developed by Ballymore Group, the scheme is a major mixed-use regeneration project transforming a 12-acre riverside site into a vibrant new residential and commercial neighbourhood. The development reconnects Brentford High Street with the waterfront, creating a network of pedestrian-friendly lanes, public spaces and community areas.

Within this high-profile environment, Miko Engineering’s role was to deliver a high-quality, visually sympathetic covered walkway that complements the architectural vision while enhancing the user experience.

The outside area of The Brentford Project, known as the Resident's Cub, with people in the pool, the outdoor area with chairs and an oak timber-covered walkway covering the outside area around the pool.

  • Align with the development’s high-spec architectural and landscape design
  • Utilise natural materials to reflect the scheme’s heritage-led aesthetic
  • Deliver long-term durability within a high-traffic residential setting

The structure needed to feel like an integrated part of the landscape, being both functional and architecturally appealing.
