Introduction

Miko Engineering recently installed a 41m x 2m bespoke covered walkway to the new garden centre, Moss & Moor, in Ilkley. The walkway provides a link between the main building to the greenhouse section for visitors and staff. The main purpose of the walkway is to keep visitors and staff protected from bad weather when moving around the garden centre. It also doubles up as cover for moving products into the centre from the storage yard to the rear at the premises.

Covered Walkway

Project Brief / Background

The covered walkway is manufactured from a variety of mild steel box section in accordance with BS 1090. All of the steelwork is galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 and was then powder coated for a premium finish. The roof was clad in 16mm multiwall polycarbonate and included an aluminium gutter which was also powder coated to match the steelwork RAL colour.

What Was Done

The handrail was bespoke manufactured and finished with a dressed Oak top for a premium finish. Miko also supplied and installed a set of double aluminium doors as an emergency exit and material handling access.
